I saw someone who was retweeted by someone I follow on Twitter do a breakdown of the books they read this past year. I didn’t check it out and I can’t remember who it was that said it, but I just want to be upfront about trying to give credit to someone else.
Preamble’s summary: I’m unoriginal.
The point: Here’s what I read in 2013.
I finished 54 books in 2013. (I highly doubt I’m suddenly going to finish a 55th in what time is left and while most of my books are boxed up for my move.) That’s 11,856 pages for 2013, which is 4,486 pages less than what I read in 2012, when I read 50 books.
Outlander was the longest book I read, at 627 pages.
I did not finish 2 books. (Awwwkwwaaard….)
10 books I read were published originally before 1950. 2 books were published between 1950 and 1999. 6 books were published between 2000-2009. 12 books were published between 2010 and 2012. 23 books were published this past year, 1 will be published in 2014. (Go ahead, check the numbers…I’m sure I’ve screwed something up.)
The ratings breakdown:
1 stars (didn’t like): 2 books
2 stars (it was okay): 5 books
3 stars (liked it): 20 books
4 stars (loved it): 17 books
5 stars (it’s amazing): 10 books
Those 5 star books?
So I was totally going to do a deeper dive and come up with what publishers I read, but I decided that it was a little too much. Maybe I’ll do it later.
What were your favorite books this year? What are you looking forward to reading next year?
