I discovered April’s 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge at Good Books and Good Wine. Each day has a different prompt, though anyone can jump in at any time. It’s a great way to get to know each other as well as explore different topics that I might not have touched on. The 15 different challenges are:
Today’s Challenge: How do you choose what book to read next?
I am one of those list people. I like lists. Lists remind me of what to do. I create them in moments of clarity to guide me when I’m confused, frazzled, and stressed. They also help me stick to what is a priority versus what is just the nearest to me at that moment.
I’ve mentioned before that I love entering giveaways on Goodreads and Librarything. I think I just enjoy getting emails saying I’ve won and getting packages addressed to me in the mail. But in order to keep winning books, I have read and review the ones I’ve already won.
Which is where my lists come in. My list keeps the order in which I’ve won an ARC or a completed book to review, as well as help establish when I need to start on my book club picks. So when I finish a book, I pull out the notebook that I’ve designated as the list holder and consult the list to see what is next in the queue. I know this sounds really boring and perhaps more like homework, but a book wouldn’t really end up on the list if it wasn’t a book I wanted to read.
(I also feel really accomplished when the list gets smaller…and then I add to it. It’s like an inch worm.)
